Italian Bread & Buns
Crusty on the outside, pillow-soft inside — baked in small batches all morning long.
from $4.50Gladstone Ave · Niagara Falls · Since 1930
Three generations of the same family, the same oven and the same recipes — fresh bread, pastries and custom cakes, baked every morning before the city wakes up.
Our Story
Portage Bakery opened its doors in 1930, and the photographs still hanging on our walls trace nearly a century of Niagara Falls mornings — regulars who came in as kids and now bring their own grandchildren for the same sausage rolls.
Nothing here is shipped in frozen. Bread is mixed, proofed and baked on-site before sunrise, the same way it always has been, by the same family that has run this counter for three generations.
"We don't rush the dough, and we don't rush the people who eat it."
For Weddings, Parties & Corporate Orders
Event planners and caterers across the Falls call us for standing orders they can rely on — consistent sizing, on-time pickup, and a tasting before anything is confirmed.

Notes From Regulars
We've gone since I was a little kid, picking up pizza after church with my gram. Their bread is still the best in the city.
— Longtime regular, Niagara Falls
Ordered our wedding cake and three catering trays here. Everything arrived on time and the tasting made the whole decision easy.
— Wedding client, Niagara-on-the-Lake
Niagara's best-kept secret. The cannoli are filled to order, and the staff treats every customer like family.
